About the album:

Live at De Melkbus was recorded in Dordrecht, the Netherlands, on the last night of Van Goat’s Summer 2019 European Tour. The band was planning on returning to Europe for a second tour this summer, but things being as they are, have decided to put out these tracks for friends and fans who will not get a chance to see them live.

Live at De Melkbus is a loud, fast, and loose live record. “The evening was a fantastic capstone to our first European tour, which was one of the most joyful and fulfilling experiences of our lives. We think that joy and excitement come through from minute one of this record and we hope that it’ll be a shot of high energy live music in a time when that’s hard to come by,” says keyboardist Ben Einstein.

‘De Melkbus’ means ‘the milk can’ in Dutch. The venue is a former dairy. Now it’s a full-on venue and recording studio. “The evening was owner Marc Berger’s birthday party and we had the pleasure of playing for a crowd of new friends. Koko Loco Schut of Koko Loco Tattoos was helping Marc raise money for renovations on the venue with flash-sheet tattoos. “I got my first tattoo. Lindsay, and our tour manager Kurt got tattoos, too”, says bassist Derek Burle. Coco designed cover art for ‘Live at De Melkbus,’ based on her initial tattoo designs. Marc, the venue owner and birthday boy, also recorded and mixed the record.

“We hope everybody can have some fun at home with this album. We want to extend a huge thank you to our European tour manager Kurt De Bont and our European fans, who we miss dearly and are saddened not to see this summer. Rest assured, Van Goat will be back for more music and raucous good times at home and abroad as soon as it makes sense.”
